Privacy

Private family stories deserve clear boundaries.

This page describes the current pre-release privacy posture of The Life Story Companion. Platform-specific disclosures will be updated before any customer-facing release.

Current status: pre-release. The Companion is intended as a downloadable AI skill only. C.B. Ventures does not operate a production Companion-hosted project database or MCP service for this product. No customer account system for Companion-hosted storage is live.

What the public website collects

The public availability website is informational. It does not currently provide a form for uploading interviews, recordings, family documents, photographs, payment information, or Life Story Companion project data.

The website is hosted through GitHub Pages. Hosting and browser/network infrastructure may process ordinary technical request data according to their own policies.

What the Companion is designed to handle

A life-story project may include names, relationships, dates, photographs, recordings, transcripts, documents, private memories, and other personal or family information. Because those materials can be sensitive, the Companion is designed around explicit visibility labels, source provenance, exportability, and narrow data-use claims.

Platform data boundaries

The Life Story Companion is an AI skill used inside a compatible AI assistant. Data handling therefore depends in part on the specific host platform, adapter, storage configuration, and features the user enables.

Before a platform is listed as supported, its compatibility documentation must disclose what the host stores, what remains in the user's own files, what data may leave the user's environment, and how export or deletion works where the host supports it. The skills-only product does not add a separate C.B. Ventures project server.

Continuity without a Companion server

Cross-session continuity for the downloadable skill depends on the host AI's memory, project files, and the user's own exports—not on Companion-managed cloud storage. Optional local developer prototypes are not a public hosted service. A future hosted offer, if ever sold separately, would be disclosed here before any Companion-server retention claims are made.

Visibility and control

The Companion method uses the concepts PRIVATE, FAMILY, PUBLIC, and RESTRICTED_UNTIL when the host permits them. The skill is designed not to publish, externally share, change visibility, or conduct external research without appropriate user authorization.

Raw sources and generated material

The Companion is designed to keep recordings, transcripts, photographs, and documents conceptually separate from summaries and generated prose. A summary is not treated as a replacement for the raw source.

Payments and licensing

The Premium Skill is sold as a one-time checkout through Stripe. After payment, a download link is emailed for a skills-only package used inside your compatible AI assistant. C.B. Ventures does not operate a Companion-hosted project database or require a Companion cloud account for that purchase. Stripe processes payment details; this public website does not collect card numbers. Licensing and support terms may be refined as platform adapters are tested and listed.

Changes to this notice

This pre-release notice may change as supported platforms and distribution methods are finalized. Material changes will be reflected at this permanent public destination before the associated production capability is represented as available.
